You'll Find More Than Cowboys in Oklahoma City

Searching for Oklahoma City apartments? Oklahoma City, nicknamed the Capital of the New Century, is home to two major universities, multiple arts districts and a thriving livestock industry, and is bursting with attractions to keep you busy.

Downtown Oklahoma City is divided into five districts, each with a host of apartments to choose from. The Business District is marked by the skyscrapers that form Oklahoma City's skyline and includes companies such as Bank of Oklahoma, Devon Energy, AT&T and the Sonic Corporation. Bricktown is home to SBC Bricktown Ballpark, a 12,000-seat ballpark where the Oklahoma Red Hawks play, and the Bricktown Canal, where yellow water taxis are a great spot to enjoy riverfront sightseeing. The Arts District is particularly interesting, with the Myriad Botanical Gardens, Civic Center Music Hall, Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Historic Automobile Alley, once home to 50 Oklahoma City car dealerships and services, is a thriving district with new businesses, apartments and galleries. Deep Deuce, the jazz and business district, has seen Charlie Christian, Count Basie and Jimmy Rushing and the Blue Devils play up and down its streets in nightclubs and bars.

In Midtown, slightly north of Downtown, the Adventure District is home to seven of the state's big attractions, all within a two-mile radius. In this area, you can play softball, watch a horse race, visit 2,200 exotic animals, discover space, catch a movie and learn about John Wayne, all right outside Oklahoma City apartments. The Science Museum Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden and Remington Park Racetrack and Casino await you in the Adventure District. Shopping at Penn Square Mall and Quail Springs Mall are in this same area.

Just north of Midtown, discover the Paseo Arts District, a two-block street built that has maintained its Spanish revival architecture with original stucco buildings and red clay tile roofs. The Paseo now has 17 galleries featuring more than 60 local artists, restaurants, coffee houses, boutiques, gift shops and a yoga studio. Apartments in this charming area are popular with students at nearby Oklahoma City University and Oklahoma State University.
